AI Orientation for Young Adults - July 15th
$500.00

A live, 2-hour session for teens and young adults navigating AI in school, work, and everyday life.

JULY 15th, 2026 | NOON - 2PM CST

AI tools are already part of how young people study, communicate, and make decisions, often without much guidance on how to use them well. This session is an orientation to the judgment that has to sit underneath the tools.

In two hours, we'll cover:

  • What these tools actually are — and aren't

  • How to use AI as a thinking partner, not a shortcut

  • Spotting the difference between confident-sounding output and accurate output

  • Where personal responsibility still sits, no matter what the tool produces

  • Practical habits for using AI well across school, work, and daily life

Led by Sarah Anderson and James Holmberg, founders of VILAS, who've spent the last several years teaching organizations how to build judgment around AI — now adapted for a younger audience asking the same questions.

Sarah and James have been featured on Minnesota Public Radio, The Star Tribune, Twin Cities Business, Wisconsin Alumni Association, Minneapolis College of Art and Design Alumni Notes, and CBS News Minnesota. They are guest lecturers at MCAD and advisors to other higher education institutions. Clients include leading non-profits, foundations, government agencies and private sector clients. They lead monthly executive sessions at the Minneapolis Club and are featured speakers on AI in taste, judgment and responsible use.

Who this is for

Best suited for teens and young adults, roughly ages 15-22.

Can someone under 18 attend?

Yes. If the attendee is under 18, the purchaser must be their parent or legal guardian and will confirm consent as part of the purchasing process.

Technical requirements

You'll need a device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and Microsoft Teams (a join link will be provided after registration — no account required).

We recommend creating an account with a major AI platform beforehand — OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini. A paid version is ideal, but free versions work fine for the exercises in this session. If using a free version, avoid entering personal or sensitive information; stick to general examples. We'll cover the difference between paid and free versions in more depth during the session.

You'll receive a pre-session checklist with helpful hints on setting up an account with your preferred AI platform.

Is this session recorded?

No. This session is not recorded, and no video, audio or transcript is retained afterwards.

What to expect

This is a live, discussion-based session, not a lecture or a pre-recorded webinar. Come ready to ask questions and think out loud.

After you register

Once payment is complete, you'll receive a short follow-up form to confirm who will be attending. If you are registering for your child, please input their contact information on this form. The Teams link and calendar invite will be sent directly to the attendee's email ahead of the session.

Refund & rescheduling

Cancellations more than 7 days before the session receive a full refund. Cancellations between 7 days and 48 hours before the session can be transferred to a future date but are not eligible for a cash refund. Cancellations inside 48 hours, or no-shows, are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Terms & Conditions

Full terms and conditions for this session are available here. You’ll be asked to confirm you’ve read and agreed to them as part of the purchasing process.
